Bizzarro announces $128,420 for safety, traffic flow improvements

Grant will be used to improve an intersection in Fairview Township

ERIE, Aug. 1 – State funding has been secured to help make an intersection safer and improve traffic flow in Fairview Township, state Rep. Ryan Bizzarro announced.

“Improving public safety will always be a priority,” said Bizzarro, who represents Fairview and Millcreek townships. “Today’s grant delivers updates that will also help relieve traffic congestion, making it easier for our residents to commute to work, arrive to school on time and travel throughout the region.”

Fairview Township will be able to utilize $128,420 to purchase traffic signal equipment and improve the intersection of Route 20 and Manchester Road.

The grant was awarded through Green Light-Go: Pennsylvania’s Municipal Signal Partnership Program, also known as the “Green Light–Go Program.” The program is a competitive state grant program designed to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals throughout the state. A statewide list of the projects recently approved can be found here.

Today’s announcement continues Bizzarro’s efforts to allocate state money to properly fund infrastructure updates, workforce development, schools, nonprofits, first responders and local businesses in his district and Erie County. During the 2023-24 legislative session, Bizzarro has helped secure nearly $59.7 million in funding for Erie County projects – including nearly $2.7 million this year.
