Bizzarro announces almost $20K in cultural, historical grants

Hagen History Center approved for $14,500 in funds

ERIE, Dec. 7 – Almost $20,000 in state money has been approved to support the work being done at the Hagen History Center and expERIEnce Children’s Museum, state Rep. Ryan Bizzarro, D-Erie, announced Wednesday.

“I’m pleased to see the state once again step in to support and help strengthen the work of museums and organizations of historical importance in Erie County,” Bizzarro said. “This support will help to ensure the work being done in Erie County – including the creation of educational programs, on-hand exhibits, archives and more – will continue, and the programs offered at the Hagen History Center and expERIEnce Children’s Museum will continue to have a positive impact on Erie residents of all ages.”

The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission issued final approval the Cultural and Historical Support Grants earlier in the day.

The goal of the Cultural and Historical Support Grant program is to help fund Pennsylvania’s museum community by supporting the general operations of eligible museums and official county historical societies that are not supported by other state agency funding programs. An eligible museum must have an annual operating budget exceeding $100,000 (excluding capital and in-kind services), and at least one full-time professional staff person (or approved equivalent).
