HARRISBURG, JULY 25– State Rep. Ryan Bizzarro, D-Erie, has been named to City & State PA’s 2022 Pennsylvania Forty Under 40, a list of young difference-makers across the state.

Bizzarro, one of three state lawmakers named to this year’s list, is currently in his fifth term serving Pennsylvania’s 3rd District in Erie. This achievement is the latest in a growing list for the 36-year-old. He has twice won Legislator of the Year Award—first in 2016 by the Humane Society for his work to overhaul the state animal cruelty code, and again in 2020 by the Pennsylvania Society of Oncology and Hematology for championing funding for cancer research and treatment.

“I’m honored to be included on this prestigious list of young leaders across Pennsylvania. I learned at an early age to never take shortcuts on what matters most— serving the public. Helping my neighbors is very important to me, not just with legislation in Harrisburg, but with nitty-gritty things like PennDOT troubles, or applying for affordable prescription drug coverage,” Bizzarro said. It’s my tremendous honor to help and support them – even those I disagree with. It is a privilege to force state government to function better - I am determined to make a difference.”

Bizzarro currently serves as the House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman after previously serving as chief deputy House whip, and vice chairman of the Northwest Delegation. He’s just the second ever Erie representative to be elected to House Democratic leadership. Alongside his committee assignments, Bizzarro has also been appointed to the Climate Change Advisory Committee, sits on the Pennsylvania Grade Crude Development Advisory Council, and is a Board Director at CORE.

City & State PA said this year’s statewide Forty Under 40 list was record-setting, receiving more nominations than ever before.
