Rep. Bizzarro: More than $140,000 coming to the region to expand broadband infrastructure

Funding to support high-speed internet for underserved communities

ERIE, March 22 – Today, state Rep. Ryan Bizzarro, D-Erie, announced broadband expansion funding for projects in the region.

“Internet access is no longer a luxury, but a requirement for a modern society,” Bizzarro said. “It’s long overdue that we address the challenges of getting connected in rural, urban and suburban areas in Pennsylvania and I’m happy to see the result of our historic work to improve internet infrastructure.”

Spectrum Northeast LLC will receive $111,084 to construct wired infrastructure for unserved areas in Girard Township and $32,577 to install hybrid fiber-coaxial wireline to residents in North East Township.

This money comes through the Unserved High-Speed Broadband Funding Program. More information about the UHSB and the Commonwealth Financing Authority can be found on the Department of Community and Economic Development website.
