ERIE, Dec. 10 – State Rep. Ryan Bizzarro, D-Erie, today announced three schools will each receive $30,000 to address sexual violence on campus as part of the It’s On Us PA campaign to invite education leaders and all Pennsylvanians to be part of the solution to protect students from sexual violence.
“Colleges and Universities in the region are where students learn free of any fear of harassment or abuse,” said Rep. Bizzarro. “We all have a responsibility to address the problem of sexual violence in our Commonwealth and these funds ensure three of our area schools will work on solutions to make their campuses free of it.”
Rep. Bizzarro said the funding is available from January 2022 through May 2023 to implement strategies on campuses, such as improving sexual violence awareness, prevention, reporting, and response systems.
The “It’s On Us” campaign is a national initiative to raise awareness about sexual assault; teaching participants that assault includes non-consensual sex, advising them on how to identify dangerous situations, empowering them to intervene, and urging them to create an environment of support for victims and survivors.
