PBMHC Black Midwifery Brunch & Learn

Join the PA Black Maternal Health Caucus (PBMHC) for a special Brunch & Learn in recognition of Black Midwifery Day - Delivering Justice - on Friday, March 14th from 12pm to 1pm. 

Black midwives have played a vital role in maternal and infant health for generations, yet their contributions remain undervalued in our healthcare system. This discussion will highlight the historical and contemporary significance of Black midwifery, its impact on reducing racial disparities in maternal health, and the legislative efforts needed to support and expand access to midwifery care. 

Representative La'Tasha D. Mayes, Co-Chair of the PBMHC, will lead an in-depth conversation with esteemed midwives and maternal health advocates:

• Jatolloa M. Davis, Certified Nurse Midwife
• Michele LaMarr-Suggs, Certified Nurse Midwife

And together, stakeholders, practitioners, advocates, and members of the PBMHC will explore the policy landscape, barriers to midwifery access, and pathways to strengthening maternal health outcomes for Black birthing people. Join us in increasing awareness about the contributions of Black Midwifery in the Commonwealth!
