Davis sworn in as state representative of 35th Legislative District

HARRISBURG, Feb. 5 – State Rep. Austin Davis, D-Allegheny, was sworn in Monday to represent the people of the 35th Legislative District for the 2017-18 legislative session.

“It’s an honor to have the trust of residents from the 35th District to represent their best interests at the state Capitol,” Davis said. “I look forward to getting started and enacting change in my district and across the commonwealth.”

Prior to his election, Davis had been actively involved in local government and the Allegheny County community, serving as an executive assistant in the county executive’s office.

Davis currently serves as vice chairman of the Allegheny County Housing Authority board of commissioners; he served as the liaison between municipal/elected officials and the county executive’s office; and he was responsible for constituent services and many other day-to-day functions at the county executive’s office.

To date, he’s received a number of awards and recognitions for his work in government and within the community, including Pittsburgh Magazine’s 40 under 40 award, the Josh Gibson Foundation Civil Service award, the McKeesport NAACP Character Leadership award, and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Gentleman of Excellence in Government Award.

The 35th Legislative District consists of McKeesport, Munhall, White Oak, Clairton, Duquesne, Versailles and South Versailles, Whitaker, Lincoln, and parts of West Mifflin.
