Davis sworn in for third term as state representative of 35th Legislative District

HARRISBURG, Jan. 5 – State Rep. Austin Davis, D-Allegheny, today was sworn in for another term as state representative of the 35th Legislative District in the 2021-22 legislative session.

“I am honored to have been sworn in for a 3rd term as the state representative of the 35th Legislative District. It’s always a humbling experience and a great honor to know that the constituents entrust me to be their continued voice here at the Capitol,” Davis said.

“As we continue to be plagued by COVID-19, it is my hope to continue to fight for those pressing issues affecting my constituents. As we know, the novel coronavirus is still a major topic of concern here in the commonwealth and I plan to continue fighting for the interests and initiatives that matter most to Mon Valley residents.”

Although 2021-22 committee assignments have not been made, Davis previously served as vice chairman of the Insurance Committee, secretary of Consumer Affairs, and on the Appropriations and Urban Affairs committees. Davis also is the chairman of the Allegheny County House Democratic Delegation for the 2021-22 legislative session and a member of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus.

“It is a great privilege to have been elected chairman of the Allegheny County House Democratic Delegation by my colleagues,” Davis said. “I truly believe this position will allow me to better advocate for the needs of all Allegheny County residents, as well as, along with my colleagues, push legislation that will allow for the betterment of our region. I’m ready to get to work.”

The 35th Legislative District consists of McKeesport, Munhall, White Oak, Clairton, Duquesne, Versailles and South Versailles, Whitaker, Lincoln and parts of West Mifflin.
