Phyllis Mundy is currently serving her tenth term as state representative for the 120th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania General Assembly. She serves as majority chairman of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee. She also serves on the House Children and Youth Committee and the House Rules Committee. She is a member and past chairman of the Northeast Democratic Delegation, which is comprised of 21 House members from 15 counties in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Mundy is a graduate of Kingston High School and Bloomsburg State College. Prior to her 1990 election to the House, she was business manager of a multimillion dollar manufacturing facility. Her volunteer service to the community has included work with the League of Women Voters, the Junior League, the Domestic Violence Service Center, Volunteers for Literacy, and the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. A longtime member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Mundy serves her parish as a lector.

She serves on the board of the Children's Trust Fund. She also serves on the local boards of Emergency Medical Services of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce and the Advisory Board of the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeast Pennsylvania.

She has been honored with numerous awards for her achievements, among which include:

• The Pennsylvania Council on Aging Award for Effective Advocacy;

• The Wyoming Valley Interfaith Council’s 30th Annual Citation of Distinction;


• The Athena Award from the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce;


• The Government Relations Award from the Pennsylvania Community Providers' Association;


• The Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business;


• The Legislator of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Mental Health Counselors Association;


• The Distinguished Service Award from Bloomsburg University;


• The John Heinz Friend of Nursing Award;


• The Outstanding Elected Woman of the Year award from the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women; and


• The Sustainer of the Year award by the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre.

Mundy resides in Kingston. She has a son, Brian, who lives in California with his wife April and sons Mason and Bryce.
