Tell Mark Gillen to stop holding up tax relief for veterans who sacrificed for us

Our veterans deserve respect for their service and their sacrifice – and they deserve the benefits they earned with that service.

The PA House of Representatives wants to give more home property tax relief to veterans with disabilities and their surviving spouses.

It’s the least we can do for the heroes who gave up so much so we can live free in the greatest nation on earth.

There’s just one roadblock: State Rep. Mark Gillen.

Mark Gillen is obstructing a bill to lower property taxes for veterans with service-connected disabilities by trying to attach a $28.5 billion income and sales tax scheme that would hand over control of our kids’ education to Harrisburg bureaucrats.

Tell Mark Gillen you want to get more done for veterans, not political games. Call or email him today and let him know our veterans deserve better.

Your note will go to Rep. Gillen’s Harrisburg and Reading offices.

Tell the state Senate YOU deserve the power to choose

It was 53 years ago when the U.S. Supreme Court said women have the right to control their own bodies. Three years ago, a very different U.S. Supreme Court said it was up to the states, and now abortion is completely illegal in 13 states, with four more banning abortion after six weeks – in most cases, before a woman even knows she’s pregnant.

That’s why House Democrats acted to pass a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would let the people decide – potentially giving the tenets of Roe v. Wade full constitutional protection where future extremists would never be able to take them away.

The Reproductive Freedom Act (HB1957) makes sure our rights are codified in our founding document itself – the Pennsylvania Constitution.

  • The Reproductive Freedom Act is about our right to privacy and keeping big government out of your doctor’s office.
  • The Reproductive Freedom Act is about letting the people vote on our right to abortion care. Opposing this bill is saying the people should not be heard and that the government knows best.
  • The Reproductive Freedom Act would guarantee the right to choose or refuse an abortion, the right to choose or refuse contraceptives, and the right to choose or refuse fertility care, all without discrimination based on race, sex, religion, or relationship status.
  • Protecting abortion care in Pennsylvania’s constitution, while a difficult process, is the strongest legal answer to protect the lives of women and babies.

Now, it’s up to the state Senate to recognize the power lies in the hands of We, the People. Add your voice and demand they pass the Reproductive Freedom Act

Raise the minimum wage for working families, Pennsylvania’s economy

Working hard is at the core of what Pennsylvanians are about. Raising the minimum wage is about economic fairness and economic sense: every state around Pennsylvania has raised their wage multiple times since our last raise. The PA House has passed legislation to boost our state's economy by raising the minimum wage and making sure it keeps pace with inflation. This would put more money in the pockets of low-wage workers, money that would be spent on goods and services in our local businesses.

Fill out the form to email your state senator and their leaders in the state Senate to let them know that you support an increase in the minimum wage.

It's time for the Cannabis Health & Safety Act

The House of Representatives passed this modern, innovative adult-use cannabis bill that puts public health first, generates billions of dollars in revenue, creates jobs, and improves community safety.

On Tuesday, May 13, however, the PA Senate Law & Justice Committee rejected this bill.

Statewide polls have shown bipartisan support adult-use cannabis legalization. Please, add your voice by filling out the form below and sending an email to your state Senator. You can also contact your Senator directly to show your support legalization legislation.

Save lives, promote health, protect jobs and keep rural hospitals open!

Affordable Care Act coverage is under attack by Republicans in Washington D.C. More than a half-million of our neighbors count on ACA coverage for their health insurance. That means people in our communities can afford to go to the doctor instead of waiting until they need the emergency room. That means people can take care of themselves and their families and go to work or to school with peace of mind that they’re protected and healthy. If federal support is gone, the average Pennsylvanian’s health insurance bills will go up by 102%. This is entirely due to the shutdown of the federal government – the federal government controlled by Republicans in the White House, U.S. House, U.S. Senate, and a Supreme Court that has given up its independence.

That’s why Pennsylvania House Democrats passed four bills to protect and preserve Affordable Care coverage in Pennsylvania no matter how long the Republican shutdown in Washington, D.C. lasts.

Now, those bills to save lives, help health care workers and keep the doors open at hospitals across the commonwealth are in the hands of the State Senate – and we need YOUR help to get the bills passed and sent to the governor to become law.

Add your voice below and tell a friend or neighbor to join the fight!
