O'Brien to hold community meeting on small-business development May 12 

 

PHILADELPHIA, May 4 – State Rep. Mike O'Brien, D-Phila., is holding a community meeting on small-business development for residents of his legislative district from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at the Old Pine Community Center, 401 Lombard St.

 

O'Brien has organized a roundtable of business specialists to offer people information on developing a small business. Those scheduled to participate include Eustace Kangaju of the Temple Small Business Development Center; Wilfred H. Muskens, deputy secretary for international business development, and /or Pete O’Neill from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, who will speak about the export assistance programs for small businesses; Salvatore Patti from the Business Lending Department at PNC Bank; Curtis Gregory from the Philadelphia City Department of Commerce Office of Business Services; and a representative from the Wharton Small Business Development Center.

 

O'Brien said there will be a brief time for questions as well as an opportunity to visit the different agencies and gather information. Copies of the Entrepreneur’s Guide for Starting and Growing a Business in Pennsylvania also will be available.

 

This is O'Brien's second in a series of Conversation with the Community meetings he is holding with residents of his legislative district. The first meeting was held April 7 and covered programs and services available to Philadelphians, including health care, utility and weatherization, consumer credit, housing and budget counseling and transportation.
